Home of the entertainment industry on the West coast and a high tech hub in Silicon Valley and San Francisco the demand for security guards has never been higher than anywhere but here. The steps to certification and becoming licensed are a little more complex than some other states, but if you pay attention and follow all of the steps closely you will be well on your way to a your license and a new job.

The awesome thing to note about California is that because the licensing can be tricky if you aren't paying attention, once you are licensed, you'll never want for work. You cannot work as a security guard in California without a license, and once you have your license, you can apply for any job out there. Given the strict requirements of becoming a licensed security guard within California it is no wonder that supply is not meeting demand. This really is a gold rush state. There is plenty of work to go around.

Application Process

Applications to become registered and licensed as a private security guard are also available from BSIS certified training facilities and private security patrol operators and companies.

After BSIS has received your online application and the DOJ and FBI has verified your criminal background check your security guard information will appear on the BSIS website.

Yourself or a certified training facility or a private security guard company or operator can verify your license online at the BSIS website

Once your registration appears on the BSIS website you can be placed on assignment by your employer.

A physical copy of your security guard registration will be mailed to you within 10 to 15 business days.
