Is anyone excluded from applying for a Connecticut Guard Card?

The basic requirements for Connecticut security guards are listed on the main pages for unarmed security guards and armed security officers.

Just in case there is any confusion because that page contains a heckuva lot of information and to directly answer the question; you will be excluded from being able to obtain a Connecticut Guard Card if you have ever been convicted of a felony or you have ever been convicted of a sexual offense, e.g. statutory rape or molestation.

As long as you are over the age of 18 when you apply, you're good to go.

That said, getting your Connecticut Guard Card and being able to land a job are two different kettles of fish.

As Dan is so fond of pointing out in his written articles and to people who come in for a job interview with him, "make damn sure you are capable of doing the job you are applying for."

If you aren't physically able or mentally equipped to be able to do the job you are required to do, you either aren't going to get hired or you aren't going to last long in the position.

Dan has a huge amount of information that he has written on how to get a job, how to polish your resume, and on, and on, and on. Dan really knows his stuff because I get to hear an awful lot of it when he is bashing my ears about "career growth" and "moving up."

Me? I just write the "boring" s**t about how to stay alive and not get stabbed too often.
