Unarmed Security Guard Laws By State

State-by-State Unarmed Security Guard Laws and Regulations

We've put together this handy State-by-State table of rules, regulations and requirements for unarmed security guards anywhere in the U.S.

Dan (that's me) and Guy do the hard work of scouring government websites and training agencies on a regular basis to make sure the information we have collected is as up-to-date and as accurate as we can possibly make it.

Regular Updates

We update this list as regulations change or new requirements come in to effect. We try very hard to be as accurate as we can, but a lot of States just quietly update their laws.

Unfortunately there is no obvious and straightforward way to stay on top of those changes without studying the government website or a badly written Adobe PDF located on an obscure web page somewhere.

Any website claiming to stay on top of all the regulations or changes across all 50 U.S. States is simply not telling you the truth or trying to part you from your hard-earned money in some way by hiding critical information.

We're compiling all the information and giving it away for free, because we're security guards ourselves and not just our job, but our career depends on knowing this stuff.

Updating all fifty States with information for both armed and unarmed security guards is a lot of work. We might miss some changes that happened. We just don’t catch everything. Reading boring government websites isn't exactly thrilling.

Found A Mistake?

If you see information here that needs to be revised or a point that needs clarification or you think Dan (me again) or Guy forgot to mention something really obvious, drop a quick message to Dan or Guy and we’ll get right on it.
